UAE Residents Increasingly Undergoing Cosmetic Procedures

Cosmetic procedures for men and women are on the rise, as many reports and studies reveal. This highlights not only the popularity of these procedures, but also their safety and efficacy. A recent report indicates that a number of people in the UAE are turning to cosmetic and invasive procedures in an attempt to look refreshed, rejuvenated and younger. Botox and dermal fillers are the heavily requested procedures, and laser hair removal, tummy tuck, and liposuction follow suit.

There are some interesting points to note regarding the present trend for cosmetic procedures in UAE. Here are some of them.

  • 70 per cent of people taking up treatments were female. Interestingly, majority of them were from Emirati and some of them are in their 20s. One of the cosmetologists said women find beauty as part of their personality which persuades them to undergo such procedures.
  • Many of the candidates were looking for fast fixes prior to personal milestones and public holidays. Most of the people wanted quick fixes such as Botox and dermal fillers during holidays to look refreshed and rejuvenated immediately with virtually no downtime.
  • Women looking for a youthful look prefer dermal fillers to fill out and smooth deep wrinkles and facial lines. Others choosing to undergo this treatment wanted to restore the volume of their cheeks and chin or plump up their lips and achieve a youthful look.
  • The recent popularity of radiofrequency procedures has also been highlighted – men and women go for this to ensure a fresh, toned and more youthful look.
  • The most popular among the invasive procedures being performed here are tummy tuck after pregnancy, liposuction with or without fat grafting, and breast augmentation and breast lift procedures.
  • Men were mostly looking for corrective surgeries and liposuction and eyelid surgery were among the most demanded ones.

This increasing demand for cosmetic procedures is seen not only in UAE but around the world and countries such as USA and Brazil top the list. As the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ISAPS) report revealed, a total of 23,474,273 procedures were performed worldwide last year. Irrespective of where you perform the surgery, what matters the most is who performs it. A reliable, skilled, trained and experienced surgeon evaluates whether the particular procedure is beneficial for you and chooses the right technique to offer you an optimal outcome.
