Are Butt Lifts the New Cosmetic Surgery Trend?

Cosmetic surgery trends keep changing based on what people consider important for physical beauty. Recent studies have found that butt lifts are the new cosmetic surgery trend among women and many NYC plastic surgeons report seeing more patients for this procedure in their offices. This is well supported by the 2013 annual report of American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). The report showed a whopping 44% increase in butt augmentation surgeries last year from 2012. It seems that the Brazilian butt lift has caught the fancy of women – courtesy Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian, and other celebrities – and is the new cosmetic surgery trend.

Researchers have reported high satisfaction rates for this cosmetic treatment. This was confirmed by a study presented at Plastic Surgery The Meeting, the annual scientific meeting of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) in October 2013.

Fifty-eight women had the procedure. Liposuction was performed in the flanks, thighs, saddlebags, and sub-gluteal region. The intention was to harvest fat and use it to provide improve buttock contour and definition. The harvested fat was injected into the buttocks. When asked to rate their satisfaction scale of 1 to 4 with 4 indicating excellent improvement, all but one of the 58 candidates marked 4. Up to 98% of the total women felt great about the outcome.

NYC plastic surgeons provide optimal results for buttock augmentation with a harmonious blend of fat removal through liposuction and fat grafting. This procedure is favored for many additional reasons:

  • Avoids implant-related complications
  • Overall body contour is improved as excess fat is removed from donor site
  • Chances of the body rejecting its own tissues are minimal

Statistics from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) also support this new trend. ASPS reported that almost 10,000 butt augmentation with fat grafting procedures were performed in 2013, an increase of 16 percent from 2012.
